Executive Certificate in International Management

As markets become more complex and workforces and business partners become more diverse, professionals are challenged to play a more dynamic role in their company’s success than ever before. The International Management Executive Certificate is designed to help professionals master the complexities of managing businesses across cultural and political boundaries in order to become highly productive international managers and enhance their organization's global competitiveness.

The Executive Certificate in International Management is comprised of three eight-week courses and provides students with valuable skills and credentials they can apply immediately. Each eight-week course contains up to 16 hours of streaming video presentation, independent exercises and mastery exams, and will take between 25-30 hours to complete. Courses include:

More than ever, companies are competing in a global marketplace, requiring their leaders to possess strong, effective global management skills. Thunderbird's online Global Management course is intended to acquaint the business manager with the contextual variables that influence high-level corporate decision-making. Its focus is on understanding the process of globalization while emphasizing how government and market interactions shape the trade, currency and legal/regulatory environment within which managers must make decisions. The student will gain a practical understanding and framework to interpret how seemingly unrelated events in trade and currency matters impact the risk and opportunities for businesses and ultimately influence profit margins and the return of investment.

Global Leadership

Some people are born leaders. Others are made. Thunderbird's in-depth Global Leadership course teaches the skills necessary to bridge cross cultural management boundaries and to develop leadership skills that are truly global. This course presents a framework of models and skills for leadership performance in competitive global business settings by providing practical insights into both internal and external factors that impact global leadership effectiveness. In Global Leadership, students will not only examine theories of leadership but also explore the actions of outstanding global leaders in order to understand and access their own global leadership competencies.

Global Strategy Implementation
Instructors: William Youngdahl, PhD; Mary Teagarden, PhD

A truly global perspective. It's what you need to lead teams effectively and position your company advantageously for the challenge of the new global economy. Thunderbird's Global Strategy Implementation course provides that perspective, bringing strategy and action into sharp focus by developing the tools of strategic analysis along with conceptual frameworks designed to improve the understanding of strategy-making in the corporate context. Students will be exposed to a broad-brush picture of the central issues in the formulation and implementation of global organizational strategy, taking a holistic perspective of organizational form and function. Students will come to understand both the strategic aspects of decision-making and the attendant ramifications at corporate, business and functional levels within the context of global organizations.
